Training without a club nearby

Brazilian jiu-jitsu is one of the hardest martial arts to learn from scattered clips. Techniques depend on small details such as where your elbow sits, how your hips turn and when you shift your weight. A random video rarely shows the sequence in which these ideas should be learned, so many people end up with a pile of tricks and no system.

This is even harder if you live far from a good gym. In many towns there is no instructor at the right level, and in some there is no jiu-jitsu at all. Others have a club but cannot make the class times work around a job or family.

This programme is built for that situation. It follows the blue belt syllabus in a logical order, so every lesson rests on the one before it. You see each technique clearly, hear it explained, and can pause, rewind and repeat as often as you need.

The aim is a practical skill rather than a collection of clips. By the end you understand how submissions, sweeps, positions and guard connect, and you can drill them with confidence.

What you will be able to do

  • Apply armlocks and chokes with control

Learn the mechanics behind each submission, so you finish it cleanly rather than muscle it.

  • Perform sweeps and takedowns

Turn an opponent over or bring them to the ground while keeping your own balance.

  • Hold dominant positions

Understand how to settle into a position, keep it and move on from it with purpose.

  • Fall and stand up safely

Practise breakfalls and getting up so that training does not cost you injuries.

  • Manage distance with your guard

Use your legs and hips to defend, to attack and to dictate the pace of an exchange.

  • Build coordination and agility

Develop the movement quality that jiu-jitsu demands, with drills you can do alone.

  • Connect techniques into sequences

Link positions, sweeps and submissions so one move leads naturally to the next.

  • Organise your existing knowledge

Place what you already know into a clear syllabus and see which gaps remain.

A teaching style built for learning on your own

Learning a physical skill from a screen only works when the video is made with that in mind. The lessons use close-ups so you can see exactly where hands and feet go, and slow-motion replays for the moments that happen too fast to follow at full speed.

Each technique is explained with voice-over commentary recorded after filming. This keeps the picture clean while the explanation points out the details that decide whether a move works: grips, angles, pressure and timing.

Lesson lengths are kept convenient, so you can fit a session around your day and then go straight to the mat to repeat what you watched. The material is meant to be revisited several times, because repetition is how jiu-jitsu becomes automatic.

How the course works

This is the version of the programme without personal feedback: you buy the lessons, study them at your own speed and train with a partner or on your own. There is no fixed start date, and nothing forces you to keep pace with a group.

Soon after payment you receive an email with your access details, usually within 5 to 15 minutes. Check the address you enter at checkout, because that is where the email is sent. From then on the lessons open in your account and play on a phone, tablet or computer.

A good routine is to watch one lesson, then drill it for a few sessions before moving on. If you have a training partner, use the lessons as a shared plan. If you train alone, the coordination and solo drilling material helps you keep improving between sessions with a partner.

You do not need a full gym. A mat or a soft, safe floor, comfortable clothing and, for some techniques, a partner who is willing to practise slowly with you are enough to start.

Is this course for you?

This course is for you if…

  • You like modern combat sports and want a clear syllabus to follow.
  • You want practical self-defence skills together with grappling technique.
  • You live far from a good club or cannot attend regular classes.
  • You already train and want to organise what you know into a system.
  • You want to learn at your own pace and repeat lessons as often as you like.

Probably not a fit if…

  • You expect personal feedback on your technique; this version has no individual review.
  • You want to learn without any space to practise or any partner to drill with at times.
  • You are looking for a quick shortcut without regular practice.
  • You want a guaranteed belt promotion; this course teaches the material but does not grant a rank.

After the course

When you finish, you will know the blue belt material as a connected whole rather than a list of separate moves. You will be able to explain why a position works, how to move from it, and what to do when your partner responds.

Your training sessions will become more purposeful. Instead of drifting through drills, you can choose a module, work on it for a week and notice the difference in how you move and react.

Falling and getting up safely will feel natural, your guard will be more active, and your finishing mechanics will be cleaner. Above all, you will have a clear map of what to practise next, whether that means going deeper into one area or taking the next step in your martial arts training.

Questions before you buy

How much time do I need per week?

It is up to you. Many people watch one lesson and then spend two or three sessions drilling it. A few hours a week is enough to make steady progress, and there is no deadline.

Do I need any previous experience?

No. The programme starts with safe falling and basic positions, so beginners can follow it. If you already train, you can use it to fill gaps and tidy your technique.

What equipment and space do I need?

A mat or a safe, soft floor, comfortable clothing and, for some techniques, a training partner. Many drills in the coordination module can be done alone.

How does access work after payment?

After you pay, an email with your access details is sent to the address you entered, usually within 5 to 15 minutes. Please check that the address is correct at checkout.

What is the refund policy?

You can request a refund within 14 days of purchase. Contact us through the order details and we will handle it.

What format are the lessons in?

They are recorded video lessons with close-ups, slow-motion replays and voice-over commentary. You can watch them on a phone, tablet or computer.

Will I get feedback on my technique?

No. This version of the programme is self-paced without individual review. You study the lessons, practise and compare your movements with the videos.

Does the material stay available?

Yes. The lessons remain in your account, so you can return to any technique whenever you want to refresh it.
